Coffee Peeves

Ahh…coffee.

If I’m going to be an addict, by golly let my jones be something that’s cheap, legal, and easy to get!
And where do we go for coffee?  Where else, but the corner Starbucks (one opening soon in your basement!)  What could be less complicated…less whineable, then a hot cup of coffee in the morning? [...]

This CNN video may be one of the most inspiring, yet heartbreaking things I’ve ever watched.
It reminds me of a scene from the movie “Awakenings“:
Sayer: “What must it be like to be them? What are they thinking?”
Dr. Ingham: “They’re not. The virus didn’t spare the higher faculties.”
Sayer: “We know what for a fact?”
Dr. Ingham: “Yes.”
Sayer: [...]

Twisted Humor

And now on a lighter note…

“Police blow up foul-mouthed CDs that blared in church”

This really isn’t funny, and I’m sure I’d have been ticked-off if I’d been there, but I just can’t help myself…

I just keep picturing the faces of the people in the pews when these things went off.
“Psst…Harriet…is that coming from your [...]

Follow up to Geek-Speak

Okay, a couple of days ago I posted about the Jon Udell thread over on Scobelizer, and his recent comments on blogging from Word 2007.  This led to a very interesting conversation with Jon, who was kind enough to reply here to my comments.
One thing he said that really caught my attention was this:

Geek-Speak or Elitism?

I read an interesting post on the Scobelizer today, regarding Microsoft’s Jon Udell’s attempt to show MS users how they can blog straight from Word 2007.
The gist was that Udell was supposedly talking to folks with a minimal amount of tech savvy, but still using the “geek-speak” of a seasoned pro.
My reply (#10), though slightly [...]

Dangerous Criminals…

Ohio students charged for hoax online snow-day posting

Now this is the kind of thing that just honks me off.   Here are two kids, goofing around…sure, causing some trouble…sure, but essentially showing that they are a couple of youngsters who are interested in more than drinking, drugs, and teen-pregnancy.
Here are two girls with enough brains (I wouldn’t [...]

Five Things To Do

Here’s a great post on “Five Things To Do With A PC When You Have No Internet Connection.”
Thought it was funny how many folk were dogging his post and telling him to get a life.
I mean, they WERE online, looking at blogs, when they found this article, right? LOL.
Still, I do feel that he left [...]

According to CNN, New York State Sen. Carl Kruger wants to outlaw iPods, Blackberrys and cell phones …at least for pedestrians.
Okay…wow.
First trans fat, now this.
Are there really no bigger crime issues in New York to deal with? Is there a special tax cut for states with the highest number of inane laws on the [...]
