NaNoWriMo 2008!

Hey all,

Just wanted to let you know that, as of 5:42pm on November 30, 2008…

I have completed my National Novel Writing Month goal of 50,000 words (Title: Brother Rat) with six and a half hours to spare.

After falling a bit behind, I’ve been writing non-stop since 6pm last night (almost exactly 24 hours) and I’m [...]

Todays Total Word Goal: 41,675
Actual Count: 39,800

Still a bit behind, but I’m catching up quick!

Pretty confident that I’ll make the goal with minutes to spare…

So here’s the peek. This is a scene from early in the book. Rat has reached Timberline Lodge a few hours earlier.

(Please no comments on spelling or grammer, according to the [...]

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that my latest Chicken Soup book, Chicken Soup for the Soul: My Resolution, will be released in December, and I’m taking pre-orders!

I’m very excited about this anthology, as it includes my first published story about baby Gracie…it’s titled, “Brick & Stone” and I think you’re gonna like [...]

The Shack 3

Okay, quikie post here…
I’m a little further in. The MC has gotten to the shack and met God. It’s an interesting scene, but I can’t help but ask the following…
Does the whole scene with “Papa” baking the pie, the description of Papa, the conversation, and the launguage that Papa uses seem VERY similar to the [...]

The Shack 2

Okay…
I started reading ‘The Shack” a couple of weeks ago, and posted on it.
I’m about 60 pages into this novel and I don’t think I like where it is taking me. I’m not feeling much forgiveness at this point. If that shocks you, you should probably stop reading now.
The main character’s daughter has been abducted [...]

Defining Myself by Shoes

Hey all,

I have lots of shoes, in fact, I have so many shoes that my wife had to put up one of those hanging organizer thingies in the closet (which most of my shoes don’t fit in, because I have great big Hobbit feet) but predominantly I wear one of five pairs; white sneakers, Wolverines [...]

Okay,

I’ve had a couple of folks ask me what the heck is up with the horned-helmet logo…

From the NANOWRIMO website, the helmet symbolizes:

“A writing lineage that stretches back to the 50,000-word Norse sagas penned by sensitive, coffee-drinking Vikings on the backs of walruses.”

NaNo quick report…

About 2000 words ahead of schedule, things are going well!
Characters are starting to take over and I’m just trying to keep up with the voices in my head.  If I can keep the coffee brewing and the baby asleep, all should be well by Friday.
Watch for an “official” update then.
Okay, gotta make a quick post [...]

The Shack

Okay,
I picked up a paperback copy of “The Shack” at Costco today.
I’ve had a number of friends tell me that I HAD to read it, and and equal number that I should NEVER read it.
That was enough for me, lol.
I’ll post more as I progress…
