Frank Leon Perkins

Dear family and friends,

I wanted to let you know that my Dad, Frank Leon Perkins, finished his race yesterday and has gone home to be with the Lord.

Frank Leon Perkins

August 16th 1939 – September 30th 2008.

Dad had been in the hospital since last Monday with low blood sugar and an irregular heart rate, he had a lot of fluid in his lungs, and dialysis had ceased to be effective. His condition was not improving, and the doctors were in agreement that it was not likely to.

He was in some discomfort and, following his dialysis session on Tuesday, was given some medication to ease his breathing and help make him more comfortable. He was able to relax and drift off to sleep, and he passed away peacefully about an hour later.

His actual diagnosis was congestive heart failure, but in truth, he was just worn out. He made it clear to us that he was ready and willing to go home, and was talking to the Lord in his sleep Monday evening.

Even so, his passing was something of a shock, as we were expecting days or weeks of continued struggle. Thankfully, the Lord had mercy and spared him that.

Our pastor was with us when Dad left, and I’d like to pass along something he said to me in those first moments. “It’s amazing. None of us can even comprehend how much Dad’s condition just improved.”

Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. There will be a memorial service soon, here in Wilsonville. If you would like more information, please reply to this email.

I’ll be calling many of you in the next few days.

Blessings,

-Perry

  1. Having lost both my parents now, I know how you feel, Perry. You have my deepest sympathy.

  2. Echoing Joyce’s reply loosing both parents kind of leaves you with a “I am on my own now feeling” even though you have a lovely wife and beautiful daughter. My deepest sympathy also.
